Celebrating National Card & Letterwriting Month

April is a wonderful month for many reasons.

1. It happens to be the month that a lot of my family members chose to come into this world. Seriously, my husband, son, brother and sister-in-law! It's a little ridiculous.

2. Spring is in full bloom (or should be).

3. It's NATIONAL CARD & LETTER WRITING MONTH! If that's not a mouthful, try saying it five times fast!

I have to confess, I only found out about that last one a little while ago, I know, pretty lame of me to be in the card business and not know that but it's hard to keep track of all the "National Something" days, weeks, and months in the year. I am glad I DID find out about it because I was able to turn that knowledge into something special.

I doodled a little sketch while playing with my boys. While it wasn't much to look at, it got my idea down and I was then able to return later on and  turn it into a more respectable sketch. :)

I was extremely excited with the way it was shaping up so I cleaned it all up with pen, got it in the computer and got it ready for plates!

By now you probably know I'm a paper geek but what you possibly don't know is that I'm pretty crazy about recycling, in general of course, but specially paper. I have stacks and stacks of paper scraps that I just can't bring myself to throw out because I swear I'll find a project for them. Happily, I was able to do just that with this project! I have a huge stack of chipboard that comes with the paper I use for notecards. A lot of it is damaged or bent but a good deal isn't and I carefully picked all those pieces out and decided this was the perfect paper for my project.

So aside from this postcard being FREE, there's a lot more to like about it, like some fun hand lettering, hand fed letterpressing and downright up-cycling. You're welcome to grab yours if you're ready to join me as I celebrate by writing more letters this month. Also, don't forget to use the hashtag #hello_post to share how you used your postcard and all the other snail mail I just know you're dying to send out.
